Winter Gardens, Springburn

Acquired by Glasgow Corporation in 1992, Springburn Park was originally an ironstone pit, an old quarry and some agricultural land.

The park was enlarged in 1900 through the generosity of Hugh Reid.

The Winter Gardens were built by Glasgow Corporation as a condition for accepting a £12,000 gift from Hugh Reid of the North British Locomotive Company to finance the construction of the nearby Springburn Public Halls.

The Winter Gardens is an A-Listed building and have lain derelict for at least 25 years.
